Lobster Press Call for Submissions

Calling All Canadian Authors!

Award-winning children’s book publisher Lobster Press (www.lobsterpress.com) is looking for children’s book submissions from Canadian authors. We are presently soliciting manuscripts from the following categories:

–        Original fiction for readers 9-12 and also for young adults (YA) ages 14+. At this time, we would only like to see comedy, “chick lit,” mystery, horror, sci-fi, fantasy, and vampire submissions.

–        High-interest fiction for reluctant readers, ages 9-12 and also 13+. Strong submissions will feature high-interest, fast-paced plotlines, and will use a widely accessible vocabulary.

–        Series for readers 7-9 and 9-12.

–        Original nonfiction submissions, any age group. We are particularly interested in environmental topics, but we’re open to all nonfiction queries.

– Graphic novel submissions, any age group.

Please note: We are only accepting completed, professionally illustrated picture book submissions at this time.

Please send all queries – via email only – to LobsterPressSubmissions@gmail.com. If we are interested in your query, we will contact you and ask for more material. In your query, please include the following information within the text of the email (please do not send attachments when querying as they will not be opened):

•  a cover letter, with current contact information (include email and full mailing address) and citizenship;

•  a brief bio;

•  a concise synopsis of your manuscript (include how the story ends);

•  the word count of the full manuscript;

•  the first three chapters.

If you are sending a nonfiction query, please include a full table of contents.

Please send your query by email only (material sent via regular mail will not be considered). We look forward to hearing from you!
