The Malahat Review 2011 Founders’ Award winners

The University of Victoria, on behalf of The Malahat Review, is pleased to announce the winners of this year’s P. K. Page and Jack Hodgins Founders’ Awards in poetry and fiction respectively.
The $1000 awards to the authors of the best poem and short story to appear in The Malahat Review‘s quarterly issues during the previous calendar year are:
P. K. Page Founders’ Award for Poetry: Steven Heighton, of Kingston Ontario was chosen by judge Russell Thornton for his poem “Jetlag” which appeared in our Summer, 2010 issue (#171).
Jack Hodgins’ Award for Fiction: Kris Bertin, of Halifax, Nova Scotia was chosen by judge Caroline Adderson for his short story, “Girl On the Fire Escape” which appeared in our Winter 2010 issue (#173).
