Commonwealth Prize winners at King’s College/Atlantic Book Awards & Festival

The King’s Co-op Bookstore will host an Atlantic Book Awards & Festival reading with Commonwealth Writers’ Prize winning-authors Shandi Mitchell of Wellington, NS and Michael Crummey of St. John’s, NL:

Friday, April 16, 7 pm, Alumni Hall, University of King’s College, Halifax (422-1271, x261)
Michael Crummey has won the CWP Canada and Caribbean Region Best Book for Galore (Anchor Canada/Random House of Canada).

Shandi Mitchell has won the CWP
Canada and Caribbean RegionBest First Book

for Under This Unbroken Sky (Viking Canada/Penguin Canada).

Mitchell and Crummey will be in to accept their awards in India on Monday, April 12 when the overall CWP winner will be announced.

Crummey and Mitchell (along with Giller prize winner Linden MacIntyre) are both nominated for the Thomas Head Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award. Crummey is also nominated for the Dartmouth Book Award for fiction and Mitchell is nominated for the Margaret and John Savage First Book Award.
