Mark your calendars! The 2010 Atlantic Book Awards and Festival will run from Saturday, April 10 – Sunday, April 18 with literary events taking place across all four Atlantic Provinces.
The Atlantic Book Awards celebration, a highlight of the week-long festival, will be held on Wednesday, April 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Alderney Landing Theatre in Dartmouth, NS. Co-hosting the awards celebration this year are Newfoundland playwright, comedienne, and author Berni Stapleton and Costas Halavrezos of CBC Radio’s Maritime Noon.
The Atlantic Book Awards Society (ABAS) is happy to announce that once again the three awards administered by the Writer’s Federation of Nova Scotia (WFNS) and the Ann Connor Brimer Award will be part of the Atlantic Book Awards and Festival. The 2010 festival is particularly special as this is the 20th anniversary of both the Ann Connor Brimer Award and the Thomas Head Raddall Atlantic Fiction Award.
The board of the non-profit ABAS is made up of representatives of the book and writing community from all four Atlantic Provinces. Board Chair Heather MacKenzie says, “The Atlantic Book Awards Society was delighted by the success of last year’s festival, and the 2010 Book Awards and Festival promises to be even bigger and better as the four additional awards means a potential for 12 more participating authors in the free, region-wide festival events.”
The three nominees for each of the 11 different awards will be announced in early March. Visit www.atlanticbookawards.ca for unfolding details.
The Atlantic Book Awards and Festival gratefully acknowledges the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, and the sponsorship of Advocate Printing, The Guardian, The Chronicle Herald, and The Telegram.
