Iranian newcomers and the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada

are excited to present a celebration of Iranian culture for all Islanders:

Iranian Spring

We invite you to join us for the first Iranian Spring celebration,

On 31 March, 2012 – 6:30 to 9:00 Pm

At Murphy’s Community Centre, 200 Richmond Street, Charlottetown

We will serve a delicious buffet supper of Iranian specialties and selected Iranian desserts.

The evening’s program includes entertainment from the Persian community in Halifax,

and the poetry of Rumi and Hafiz is being read by six well-known Island poets:

Hugh MacDonald, the Poet Laureate of PEI, Judy Gaudet, David Helwig,  Deirdre Kessler, Monica Lacey, and Brent MacLaine.

Some of the poems will also be read in Persian to give the flavor of the original before translation.

Tickets are $20.00 each or you can book a table of 8 for $150.00. Children 12 and under tickets are $12.00.

Prior to the supper, from 2:00 – 6:00pm, in Room 207 you can enjoy an afternoon introduction and sharing of the culture of Iran.

This will be a free display including photography, crafts, artifacts, information, and video of Iran.

Everyone is welcome.

Rashed’s Convenience Store at 18 Grafton Street, or from the PEI Association for Newcomers to Canada.
