Where: The Lefurgey Cultural Centre
When: 1:00 – 4:00pm
Dedicated to the memory of western PEI author Brigitte VanVliet

The final workshop in the 2011 PEIWG Workshops series is being held in honour of esteemed Prince County author, Brigitte VanVliet. It is a collaboration between the Wyatt Heritage Properties and the PEI Writers’ Guild.

Presented as part of the Wyatt Heritage Properties Storytelling Festival on September 17, 2011, Louise Lalonde will be facilitating a workshop, “Get Your Story Straight,” an introduction to writing a screenplay for a feature film. Louise Lalonde has been studying screenwriting for several years and is the driving force behind the PEI Screenwriters’ Bootcamp, a one-week intensive workshop on writing for the silver screen.

Louise will illustrate that at the core of every amazing film is a great story being told visually. Topics that will be covered during the workshop are approaches to writing a film treatment, developing a story arc, creating characters, building conflict and tension, the rules of format and structure, and tips on accessing your creativity.

During the three-hour workshop—held in Summerside at the Lefurgey Cultural Centre between 1:00 – 4:00pm— participants will also have the opportunity to ask questions regarding any projects that they may have in development.  Come prepared for a stimulating and informative time learning how to get your story straight for film!

Workshop Fees are: PEI Writers’ Guild members and Storytelling Festival attendees: $20.00, Non-members: $30.00, Students: $10.00

Please email peiwritersguild@gmail.com to register. Spaces are limited. Call Yvette at 892-9788 if you don’t have access to email.
