THE ISLAND FICTION READER: AN ANTHOLOGY OF NEW FICTION

on

Prince Edward Island’s Acorn Press invites writers to submit unpublished short stories for a new anthology of fiction by PEI writers, to be published in spring 2012. Potential contributors must have a significant Prince Edward Island connection, for example: born or raised in Prince Edward Island, lived in Prince Edward Island for six months of the past two years; or another strong connection, such as summer residence. Please indicate your connection with Prince Edward Island in a covering letter.  The purpose of this anthology is to introduce and promote newer fiction writers. Therefore, contributors may have published no more than two books of adult fiction.

Writers should submit no more than three stories for consideration. The maximum length is 5,000 words per story. In addition to adult fiction, stories for teens and young adults are welcome. There is no requirement for “Island” content: stories may be set anywhere. Between 15-20 authors/stories will be accepted for inclusion. Contributors will receive $75 and a copy of the anthology.

The deadline for submissions is June 30, 2011.

Please send your submissions in hard copy only using 12 pt. Times New Roman font and double-spacing. Submissions can be sent by post, and should be postmarked no later than June 30. Include your contact information in your covering letter. Manuscripts will not be returned.

Please mail your manuscripts to:
