SPRING WORKSHOPS FOCUS ON GETTING PUBLISHED
The Island Writers Association’s Spring series of Workshops for Writers begins with two sessions that explore the subject of getting your book published to take place in May. In June attention turns to Romance and Children’s writing with workshops presented by Brian Henry of Ontario, who brings 25 years experience as a book editor and creative writing instructor to his presentations.
Whether you just want to compile a book for your own use, produce a small quantity for family gifts, or publish an end product for the bookstore shelves, you can’t afford to miss these workshops!

GETTING PUBLISHED AS A ROMANCE WRITER

“How to Write and Sell a Romance Novel”
Get the inside story. Whether you want to write chick lit (like Bridget Jones’s Diary,) a traditional Harlequin-style romance, or woman’s erotica, this workshop will show you how. Learn the “secret formulas” and how to brainstorm a story line. Find out how much money authors earn and where the best opportunities are to get published now.
Workshop leader Brian Henry has been a book editor and creative writing instructor for more than 25 years, including seven years with Harlequin, the world’s largest romance publisher. He teaches a credit course in writing romance novels at George Brown College and has led workshops everywhere from Boston to Buffalo and from Sarnia to Sudbury.
GETTING PUBLISHED – WRITING FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS

Whether you want to write the next best-selling children’s books or just want to create stories for your own kids, this workshop is for you. Learn how to write stories kids and young adults will love, and find out what you need to know to sell your book. If you’re not currently working on a children’s story, don’t worry, we’ll get you started!
Workshop leader Brian Henry has been a book editor and creative writing instructor for more than 25 years. He is also the author of a children’s version of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde (Tribute Publishing Inc).
