The friends of Rock Barra Artist Retreat Co-op invite you to a summer evening social at the wHy loft, corner of Prince and Euston Streets in Charlottetown on Thursday June 18, 7 -10-00 p.m.

Join us for an evening of great music, delightful cakes by world-class chefs,  wonderful coffee, choice Chinese teas and an art auction. Admission is by donation and all proceeds go to the Rock Barra Artist Retreat Co-op.

This event promises to be a wonderful start to the summer. We have delectable cakes on offer by a number of people including Chef Rachel Leslie, Dr. Marguerite Cassin and Chef Michael Smith. A long time supporter of Rock Barra Retreat  Chef Michael offers not only his best cakes, but also a set of four illustrated prints, original Michael Smith drawings, framed and ready for your kitchen. Other fine pieces of art will also be auctioned off over the course of the evening.

Budding pop stars Andrew and Rob  McIssac will debut some of their great song-writing; Teresa Doyle, Peter Bevan Baker and Jon Rehder will serve up some sassy swing tunes from Teresa’s new release Late Night Parlour.

Enjoy some of Brett Bunston’s fantastic coffee with your cake or try some of the lovely Chinese teas offered by Patricia Craig and East East Tea and Arts.

Rock Barra is a spectacular twenty acre beach-front artist retreat located on the north eastern shore of the Island. This gorgeous property is leased to us by arts patron Sam Sniderman. We are a non-profit cooperative run by volunteers. The Retreat has presented workshops in many disciplines over the past five years and  hosted two incredible outdoor feasts with Chef Michael Smith. Workshops are conducted in a building erected for a Daniel Day Lewis film. This building is in need of urgent attention. Volunteers are at the ready to do the construction work and this event is to raise money for the building materials needed to do the job. We intend to have the work done in time to start our summer programming in late July. We will have our schedule available at the social.
