Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Chairperson of the Board of Directors manages the programs, activities, employees and budget of the Prince Edward Island Council of the Arts (PEICA); promotes and implements the PEICA’s governance policy, manages the policy of peer evaluation and the programs, rules and procedures of the PEICA; assists the Board in developing policy and program initiatives for enhancing PEICA’s role in the development of PEI’s artists; promotes and ensures fair and equal access to programs by all qualified artists; contributes to the strategic planning and short-range and long-range development of the PEICA; and performs other related duties.
Knowledge and skills
The duties of the position require a thorough knowledge of the principles, theories, and practical aspects of non-profit, charitable organization management, as well as excellent project and program management skills.
A thorough knowledge of the history and current state of the arts on PEI and in Canada, a good knowledge of trends and new developments in arts, and a good understanding of the PEICA’s policies and its role as a funding agency is also required.
Strong interpersonal skills are a requirement for this position.
Experience
Five to seven years of progressively responsible arts management and administration positions directly related to the arts.
Supervision
The work requires the management of a staff of two, which includes the direct supervision of all employees.
Consequence of errors
Errors have a serious and direct impact on the financial management of the PEICA and on the effectiveness of programs. Errors could cause serious embarrassment and damage to the PEICA and its reputation.

Working environment and travel
The work is performed in a open office environment. The incumbent is required to travel between fifteen and twenty days per year.
Language requirements
This position requires the proficient use of English, spoken and written, however, the ideal candidate is proficient in both official languages.
