Host Dianne Hicks Morrow, PEI poet laureate, invites readers and listeners to the 4th Open Mic event at the Haviland Club, 7 – 9 p.m. Tuesday, January 14. Readers can sign up at 7 p.m. to read either poetry or prose, anywhere from three to seven minutes.

The featured reader that night will be Beth E. Janzen. Beth is a poet, fiction writer, and teacher. Her poetry publications include Night Vanishes (Saturday Morning Chapbooks, 2004) and The Enchanted House (Acorn Press, 2006). “Watermelon”, which appeared in Riptides: New Island Fiction (Acorn Press, 2012), is part of a manuscript of short fiction, currently in progress. Beth’s fascination with mythic themes is apparent in her work, which often examines the intricacies of relationships.

For more than 10 years, Beth has enjoyed facilitating writing classes and acting as a mentor for writers at all stages of their journeys.

Admission is free or by donation. Please contact Dianne at peipoetlaureate@gmail.com with any questions.
